brakur_vessel_sinkWhen it comes to choosing a bathroom sink for your Chicagoland custom remodel you might be surprised at all the options you have to choose from.  While not every sink will work for every bathroom remodel, there are a lot of factors that come into play when choosing the right bathroom sink. Homeowners need to consider space, style, and function when choosing the right bathroom sink.  It’s important to get familiar with what is available.  There is nothing worse than finishing that bathroom remodel to discover something that might have worked better or you wish you had known about.

Styles of Bathroom Sinks

  • Undermount - This is one of the more common sinks. It sits below the countertop. You usually need a solid surface or stone to use this type of sink. They are easier to clean.

  • brakur_top_mount_sinkTopmount - It is one of the more versatile sinks.  It will work with almost any countertop material.  It sits on top of the countertop with only a small portion exposed.

  • Wall Mount – It is affixed directly to the wall.  They do not have cabinets or a vanity below.  It gives a streamlined look.

  • Brakur_pedestal_sinkPedestal- Common sink found in small bathrooms or half baths. It is a great alternative when wall mount sink won’t work.  It is ideal to hide plumbing and helps when plumbing goes through the floor.  It can be tricky to clean around since there is usually a gap between the base and the wall.

  • Vessel- Sits entirely on top of the counter.  Has become a stylish trend.  Since it sits up higher, height should be a consideration and is not always the best for bathrooms for children.
