Brakur-_Tips_for_and_Organized_Kitchen_PantryWho doesn’t wish for an organized kitchen pantry? There is nothing worse than being in the middle of your favorite recipe and you can’t find that one ingredient.  So you stop what you are doing to run to the store to get what you need, only to find three cans of the same item a few days later.

We can all relate to this story.  Utilizing tools to have an organized pantry will not only save money, but time and frustration as well.

Even if you don’t have a walk in pantry you can opt for a built in pantry cabinet.  With a built in pantry you have an array of options.  You can add rollout trays, rotating shelves, or even small side racks to store spices and smaller items.  If you don’t think you have space for pantry cabinets (or the budget for them), you still have options to organize. Many accessories for pantry cabinets can be added to the interior of your other cabinets as well.

Tips for Pantry Organization

Tip #1 - Use a variety of shelving, drawers, racks or containers to utilize your space effectively.  You may consider a swing out pantry option or rotating shelves.  There are all kinds of organization containers to help you put things in their place.  Think about the “things in the back” and how to either make them sit higher so you can see them, or have a pull out so you can get to them without having to move other things out of the way.

Tip #2 - Have a way to rotate your food.  Organization experts recommend placing newer items in the back so you’re less likely to let food expire.  Most people dislike repetitively cleaning their pantry and throwing away food that has expired because they couldn’t get to it.

Tip #3 - Utilize baskets. Baskets are a stylish trend. You can either purchase baskets themselves or order the baskets that are part of a roll out.  Baskets make it easier to store produce, breads, and those awkward and bulky items.

Tip #4 - Use clear containers.  Nothing helps you see what you have better than putting things in clear containers.  Find uniform ones that can hold many of your items in an organized way.  Label them.  If you can see what is in the container it will let you know when you are getting low and need to replenish. Too many times we forget what is in containers, since we can’t see in them and end up throwing it out because it has either molded or gone stale.
