They anticipate 2016 being the biggest year yet for bathrooms. So if you are considering a Chicagoland custom bathroom remodel this next year you will want to find out what new trends to look for, those trends that will be staying, and those that will slowly be going away.

## Trends to Watch for in 2016

**Showers** - Where Jacuzzi tubs used to be the big thing, many homeowners are going with oversized showers and in some cases eliminating the tub altogether. People want luxury showers with multiple showerheads and built in benches. If they do keep the tub it is usually a free standing soaking tub.

**Sinks-** Where vessel sinks that sit above the counter have been popular, designers anticipate a trend away. They are expecting a higher demand for undermount [bathroom sinks](https://blog.brakur.com/blog/bathroom-sinks-101-choose-the-right-one-for-your-custom-remodel) that are easier to keep clean.

**Colors-** There seems to be a little bit of a discrepancy here between designers. Some say browns and tans are coming back with beige and yellow. While other designers think cool colors such as green and white will be big.  Some of this may have to do with what part of the country you live in. So you will want to consult your local designers to see what they are seeing in your neighborhood.

**Nature** - We saw a lot of homeowners bringing nature into the bathroom in 2015. We anticipate that trend will continue into 2016. 

**Function** - Everything in bathrooms is about universal design. Homeowners want a clutter free and safe bathroom. They are looking for bathroom storage that makes sense.

**Bathroom Countertops** - While granite continues to remain popular, quartz is predicted to be even bigger in 2016. Homeowners are looking for low maintenance [bathroom countertops](https://blog.brakur.com/blog/countertop-options-for-your-chicagoland-custom-bathroom) that look good.
