Brakur_Kitchen_Design_for_PetsIf you walk into almost any home chances are they have some type of a pet.  Many homeowners consider their pets as much a part of the family as any member.  In fact about 68 percent of homes in America own some type of pet.  A majority of those homes have a least a dog or cat, with many of them having multiple pets.

Our pets will hang out with us anywhere we are in the house.  With the amount of time we spend in the kitchen it is important to think about our kitchen design and how it will affect those furry friends in our home.

Dog_Bowl_1In many kitchens there is a bowl of food and water that is often tripped over or spilled because it seems to get in the way. Many homeowners will throw their pet food in any cabinet that it will fit.  It’s important not to make your pet an afterthought when designing your new custom kitchen.

Things to Consider

  •          Placement of food bowl or feeding station
  •          Storage for pet food and other pet items
  •          Location of trash and other items pets might get into
  •          Safety

Our pets can be a part of the action in the kitchen without getting in the way.  Whether it is a food feeding station or a built in pet bed there is a variety of things you can do.  After all the kitchen is the heart of the home.  If you would like to talk to one of our kitchen design experts about pet friendly options and how you can design a kitchen with pets in mind you can contact us here.
