They both have some very distinct differences. Understanding and knowing the difference between these two countertop materials will help you get what you are looking for in your custom kitchen remodel.

 

 

 

 

What Makes Them Different?

  • Engineered stone that is made in factory from stone chips, resins, and pigments.
  • Non-porous and less maintenance.
  • Does not need to be sealed.
  • Uniform pattern
  • Wider range of colors
  • Can be poured into a mold and be any shape
  • Stain resistant

  • Metamorphic rock that comes from sandstone
  • Usually has swirling white and gray coloring but does come in other limited colors
  • Similar to granite and needs to be sealed
  • Patterns resemble marble
  • Harder than both granite and quartz
