Digital Scrapbook 1.pngThe saying goes, “a picture is worth 1,000 words”. Well, when beginning the process of doing a new kitchen or kitchen remodel, pictures can communicate a lot of your ideas to your designer. The good news is that with today’s technology it’s easy to keep a digital scrapbook of everything you like.

In addition, there are so many things to think about when doing a kitchen, it can be difficult to organize your thoughts and likes. Pictures can help you keep them all in the right place and not lose them.

Below are some tools to help you put it all together and make it easy to communicate all the things you like to your designer when it’s time to do so.

Even in today’s Internet world, you can still find paper magazines full of ideas to help you imagine your perfect kitchen. You can do the old school way of cutting pictures and saving them, but we recommend using the technology in hand like your smartphone to capture things.

Wherever you see something you like, either on paper, on computer or in person, you can easily snapshot it and save it.

Just about everyone carries a phone that takes pictures, but most people don’t use them for the great tools they are to capture ideas. Capture things you can organize and show your designer when it’s time.

We recommend these categories of pictures.

  • Must Haves – The stuff you MUST have in your project
  • Nice-To-Haves – You would LOVE these but not sure you can swing them yet
  • Curious-About-These – If easy and not expensive you might consider these
  • Reference – Everything you want to consider later or keep for reference

The New World – Internet Pictures

Searching the Web will give you all kinds of ideas. Search for specific things or just browse kitchens to get your creative juices flowing. Most pictures can be saved to your computer by right-clicking the picture and “Save Picture As…”. Or even on a smartphone or tablet you can click and save. Put them in the folders you created for organizing.

Online Tools to Help

The following are resources that can help you find more pictures as well as organize them to your liking. In addition, you can find coaching material to help you best navigate the process of your kitchen.
