A lot has changed in the cabinet industry over the past several years. One of the big changes is the way we design our kitchens for our customers. It used to be that you would look at a hand drawn design and try and envision what your kitchen would look like when it was finished.
If you were lucky you had a kitchen designer who was actually an artist and could draw a pretty accurate sketch. Most were just quick hand drawn sketches and didn’t even come close to really resembling the finished product. Customers had to use their imagination more times than not. Too many times people ended up disappointed because the drawing might have been similar but the kitchen didn’t turn out quite like they envisioned.

All of that has changed in recent years. Cabinet designers now have access to very good CAD (Computer Animated Design) software. This software can come very close to actually letting you see what your kitchen will look like even before your kitchen has been ordered. It even allows you to switch out different styles and colors of cabinets to help you get the look you want, and see basically what it will REALLY look like, color and all.
Previous to “good” CAD design, it would have taken someone a lot of time to do a drawing from scratch. And it would typically be a poor representation of reality. Today, you can have many different visually accurate options in just a few minutes.
Designers can even do things like put a picture of your yard in your window and put your appliances or lighting in the design to give you the full affect.
This technology has not only saved the kitchen designers hours of work, but helped the homeowners to make more educated choices. They can now be more content and confident in the kitchen they have chosen, because they can be more confident that it will turn out like they want.
Kitchen designers know right away if they have captured what the homeowner has envisioned. Then they are able to make the necessary adjustments before it is too late. Previously it would have cost a lot of money to fix the miscommunication. Homeowners can know exactly what they are getting for their investment and are much more satisfied with the end result.
