Here at Brakur we understand the demands and challenges that go with raising a family. Many of our employees are parents as well. So when it comes to designing a kitchen for a family we have some pretty good ideas of what you might be looking for. We probably have even thought of things that you haven’t. We can help bring some sanity to your sometimes crazy lives. With kids nothing is ever the same and things are constantly changing. One thing we have found is making sure everything has a place can alleviate a lot of those hectic crazy days.
We have some tips that we think you will find helpful in planning your kitchen.
Tip #1- Make sure your kids have a place to do their homework and any of those fun craft or science projects. Depending on the age of your kids some may need a place to use the computer while younger kids need more area for play.
Tip #2- Have a place to store those supplies needed to complete homework and any projects they may have to do for school.
Tip#3- Have a place to store all those important papers like fieldtrip permission slips, class syllabi, school calendars, etc… (Maybe even a message board for communication that goes to and from school). Brakur has a variety of cubbies and shelves that can blend in with your kitchen.
Tip#4- Safety in the kitchen should be a top priority. Make sure knobs to appliances are not reachable by a young toddler or at least able to have safety covers put on. Also look at corners and edges. Some kids can be just the right height to hit the corner of a cabinet or countertop.
Tip #5- Think about the upkeep and cleaning. Some appliances and cabinets show fingerprints more than others. Certain countertops stain and scratch more easily.
Tip #6- Make items that your kids use frequently accessible. Have a base cabinet that you store all the plastic cups and dishes in for kids. That way they won’t have to climb on the countertops to get what they need.
