It’s something we see more and more often; adding more color to your kitchen by doing a 2-toned finish. If you’re thinking about doing a two-toned kitchen, here are some ways you might want to consider doing it.

Stand-Out Island

A very popular option is to have the island a different color from the rest of the kitchen. Often it’s a contrasting color. This is especially effective if you have either light or dark outer cabinets. The island in a contrasting color can provide the effect you’re looking for. 

Accent Focal Points

If you have a focal point you want to emphasize, a two-toned color can work wonders. This example of a range hood area really makes it stand out in all ways in the kitchen. It’s like a double-whammy for style.

Opposing Wall Color

Another idea is to have different walls of different color in the kitchen. This option can give you a great “furniture” look, or just a very dynamic look to make your kitchen unique.

Other Thoughts

Keep in mind the other parts of your kitchen you will want to coordinate with the different colors you use. For example, countertop, backsplash, and flooring colors should help blend and validate the cabinet colors you choose.
