When you finally have the kitchen or bath of your dreams, you want to ensure that it stays looking like just that. During this year of Covid-19, we have become even more conscious of cleaning and disinfecting our homes to contain the spreading of viruses.

Here at Brakur we know that your home is going to be lived in, so we have complied a list of tips on how to maintain the quality of your cabinets in your home for many years.

General Cleaning

During these times you want to clean and sanitize as much as possible to avoid any unnecessary germs or bacteria. We recommend wiping down the cabinet surfaces frequently, every few weeks or so, in a normal season, in order to clean stains and sanitize as well. You’ll need to do that more frequently depending on exposure to viruses in your home.

Always avoid using harsh chemicals on cabinet surfaces. Using two-parts warm water to one-part dish soap (nothing too strong) should be safe to clean with. Try to avoid rough sponges and use a softer textured rag or paper towels to keep from scratching the surfaces. Make sure to dry thoroughly after cleaning.

You also want to use traditional wood cleaner every once in a while, to help the surface maintain its color and vibrancy. If you have tough grease or oil stains, a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water cleaned with lint free microfiber towels will be safer to use than cleaning chemicals. Disinfecting

During this COVID dominated year, it Is especially important that we stay vigilant in disinfecting germs in the kitchen. Along with COVID, you want to prevent the spread of germs in the home as much as possible considering the amount of time many of us are now spending there. The best materials for the purpose of killing germs are vinegar. This is generally easy to access cleaning agents that have proven affective against fighting diseases such as COVID and the like. It is key that you consistently disinfect your countertops and other kitchen surfaces in order to stay healthy. Avoid unnecessary germ attractions such as a sponge that has been used too many times. These are simple steps you can take to ensure safety. Avoid using harsh chemicals on wood finishes as this may damage them.

Easy to Access Cleaning Products

If you are looking for inexpensive cleaning products, there are some products that you most likely have laying around that will do the trick safely. Distilled vinegar are safe to use cleaning agents that you probably already have in your home. Do be careful as some surfaces do not react well with particular cleaning agents. If your home has things like glazed laminate surfaces, be sure to check the specifications and make sure that an alternate cleaning agent is not needed.
