So, you’ve finally decided it’s time for a change – whether it be the 90s kitchen that has to go, the bathroom that needs more storage, or the basement that your family has been dying to make more functional by installing custom storage solutions. You know there is plenty involved, but you’re just not quite sure what to do, who to involve, or how long it will take. Don’t worry; we’ve got your back.
What do I need to do?
The first thing you need to do when you decide to remodel is your homework (sounds awful, right? It’s not…this is actually a fun part).
Ideas - Collect your thoughts on what you like and dislike about your current space, compile a list of needs and wants and pinpoint your motivation for the project. Collect pictures and compile notes without focusing on prices or brands. This is the time to be general and learn about your style, don’t limit yourself too much. Keep all of this information organized so you can share it with your designer when the time comes
Budget – You’ll need to decide how much you’re willing and able to spend on this project and have a general idea of what you can afford before you meet with your designer. It’s important to make sure your budget isn’t a solid number, but rather a range (for instance, a kitchen remodel budget range may come in between 10% and 20% of your home’s market value, leaving you with choice flexibility and some room for unplanned surprises). There is no magic number that you’re supposed to spend on any given project, but if you need some tips, our team is always here to help.
Once you have done your homework and found a reputable company to work with, it’s time to get started.
Who will be involved?
We can’t speak for every company when we answer this question, but when you work directly with Brakur, there will be a handful of skilled professionals working closely together on your project. While you’ll have a Brakur representative available to you throughout the whole process, your project will be a joint effort put forth by our talented designers, finest local craftsman and artisans, our trained cabinet technicians (if you choose to use our installation services) and our service team. We stay with you from initial consultation to post installation.
