Brakur_RecycleThere is no need to pay those expensive landfill fees to get rid of your old kitchen appliances and cabinets. There are many other ecofriendly ways that are worth looking into that will help you use and recycle your old kitchen and bathroom cabinets. For many of us the kitchen we are replacing is still worth something. Donating to non- profit organizations such as Green Demolitions or Habitat for Humanity can put that old kitchen to good use.

While it may not be feasible to recycle everything it is worth looking into what can be recycled. Organizations such as Salvation Army will fix and resell old and used appliances. When you donate your old cabinets and appliances you also benefit from a tax deduction. Other items that can either put cash in your pocket to help finance and pay for that remodel are countertops, hardware, lighting fixtures, steel, copper and unused ceramic or backsplash materials. There may also be other areas of the home that those old cabinets can be put to good use such as a garage, storage room, or even a home office.

If you are considering recycling your old kitchen or bathroom you will want to talk to one of our design experts here at Brakur Custom Cabinetry. They can let you know your options and what is worth recycling in your kitchen.  Some cabinets may be at the end of their life. It is also important to consider the cost of removing those cabinets. Be careful to hire a reputable company and know where those cabinets are going. It does take more time and effort to remove items than it does to just demolish. If you do plan on recycling or using your cabinets in another part of your home make sure your contractor knows this ahead of time.
