While many people will say clean as you go, some homeowners who love to cook just don’t work that way. For many homeowners when they are done cooking in the kitchen there is one huge mess. No matter your cooking style there are some kitchen design tips that can help keep your kitchen looking clean and organized.

Kitchen Design Tips

  • brakur_two-tiered_islan.jpgTwo-tiered Island or Peninsula - Sometimes it just isn’t possible to avoid making a mess. Including a two-tiered island or peninsula will hide the mess from the view of others who may come into your home. You can get high bar stools that will add additional seating for the higher countertop.

  • brakur_trash_pull_out.jpgPullout Trash Can - Have your trash can in a base cabinet that pulls out. It will save you from walking across the kitchen and you don’t have to worry about it being in the way or getting knocked over.

  • Farmhouse Sink - Get a larger farmhouse sink that makes it easier to wash multiple pots and pans. They are deeper and also look great!

  • Prep Sink - Having an additional prep sink to wash fruits and vegetables will allow you to soak pots and pans immediately in you main kitchen sink. They are usually a lot smaller and are perfect for the prep work zone in your kitchen.

  • brakur_baskets.jpgPullout Baskets - Take advantage of custom built-in baskets. They are great for open storage and you have access to common used items.

  • Two Dishwashers - When cooking a large meal or more than one thing there never seems to be enough room in the dishwasher. Adding an additional dishwasher won’t leave extra dishes sitting on the counter and in the sink. You can actually finish cleaning right away instead of having to wait until the first load is done.

  • brakur_utensil_divider.jpgStorage Solutions – Take advantage of built in spice racks, utensil dividers, or cookie sheet dividers. There are a variety of unique storage options that will help ensure you know where to put things away so they don’t just get shoved in a cabinet or drawer. These will save you time and a lot of frustration looking for things.
