Universal design is the idea that your kitchen should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, size, or ability. It’s also about making your kitchen safe. If you look at the trends for 2015 in kitchen design, universal design is at the top of the list. This was also evident in the [highlights from the recent Kitchen and Bath Industry Show](https://blog.brakur.com/blog/kbis-highlights-from-the-kitchen-and-bath-industry-show) that was held this past January.

In a recent [Houzz Kitchen Trend Study](http://www.houzz.com/press/113/Houzz-Survey-Finds-Kitchens-Outlast-Most-Marriages) they found that 75% of the people who choose to remodel do NOT do so because their kitchen has worn out.
